Beginning Java Programming

Description: In this XML training course, participants receive a thorough introduction to XML technology from authoring XML documents to applying XML and related technologies in practical situations. The course covers structuring data with XML; validating data with data type definitions (DTDs) and schemas; rendering data stored as XML documents in a browser; transforming XML documents with the XML Stylesheet Language (XSL and XSLT); referencing XML via the document object model (DOM) and Xpath; and using XML data in JavaScript and Java via the XML DOM and the Simple API for XML (SAX). Practical aspects of XML development will be emphasized, and current and future tools and trends will be explored. Participants will have ample opportunity to practice the teachings in hands-on exercises.

Prerequisites: Basic HTML knowledge, plus experience with programming or scripting languages, such as Java or JavaScript. Attendance at the Course "Web Site Development with HTML/JavaScript" is sufficient to meet prerequisites for this Course. Knowledge and experience with databases is helpful, but not required.
